St. Ursula School, Garja, marked a historic milestone with the inauguration and blessing of its newly completed school building. An event that stands as a testimony to faith, perseverance, and commitment to quality education for the children of the remotest villages of the Simdega Diocese.

The journey of St. Ursula School began in 2008 with just Standard I, inspired by a humble yet powerful vision to bring holistic education to marginalized rural children. What started as a small seed of hope has steadily grown into a flourishing institution. Today, as the first batch reaches Standard VIII, the school stands as a vibrant centre of learning, values, and transformation, shaped by the dedicated efforts of the sisters, teachers, and well-wishers over the years.

This long-cherished dream took concrete shape with the completion of the new school building, marking a significant milestone in the mission of educating and empowering young minds.

The joyous occasion reached its peak on 14th November, 2025 when the school witnessed a historic dawn with the solemn inauguration and blessing of the new building. The celebration began with a warm welcome extended to the guests in the traditional Adivasi style. With deep reverence, Sr. Augusta unveiled the plaque, and Rev. Bishop Vincent Barwa blessed it, formally ushering in a new chapter in the school’s journey. Sr. Rita then cut the ribbon, symbolizing the official opening of the new building. The presence of esteemed guests and sisters from various communities added dignity, encouragement, and joy to the celebration.

Adding to the happiness of the day, Sr. Rita proudly announced that St. Ursula School has received ICSE affiliation, a remarkable achievement and a significant milestone in the history of the institution.

“Honouring those who serve is a celebration of love in action.” A heartfelt felicitation ceremony followed, expressing deep gratitude to the honoured guests and acknowledging the tireless efforts of the architect, contractor, engineers, and all those whose dedication and service made this dream a reality.

In his address, Rev. Bishop Vincent Barwa recalled the humble beginnings of the mission and appreciated the Society for its commendable work in uplifting underprivileged children of the diocese. He encouraged the sisters to continue this noble mission with renewed commitment. Sr. Rita, in her speech, reflected on the many challenges faced along the way, gratefully remembered the support of the diocese, and highlighted the remarkable growth the school has achieved today.

The programme concluded on a joyful and fulfilling note with a vibrant cultural performance by the talented children, whose colourful presentations added grace, enthusiasm, and life to the celebration. This historic day will remain etched in the annals of St. Ursula School as a symbol of hope, growth, and a brighter future for generations to come.
